Healthy Toothpaste
Friday, July 30th, 2010What Goes Into a Typical Tube of Toothpaste?
The items that go into a tube of toothpaste are important things to see. They are ingredients that will be used to help with getting one’s teeth to look and feel their best.
Fluoride is an important ingredient to take a look at. This is an ingredient that is used to help with building healthy surfaces on one’s teeth. It is also used to help with keeping bacteria from being able to impact the teeth. A typical tube of toothpaste should have around 0.25% fluoride inside of it. This is an appropriate amount because of how an excessive amount can be harmful to the body.
Some toothpaste options will include baking soda along with the fluoride. The baking soda will work to give the mouth a cleaner feeling. It will be best to see that the baking soda does not get in the way of the fluoride when it works.
Much of the build of toothpaste will come from water. This is used as a base for the toothpaste so that it will be able to have a soft and liquid-like feel to it. A series of humectants can also be used to help with keeping the properties of toothpaste together with ease. This part of the toothpaste should be able to cover about three-quarters of the builds of a tube.
An abrasive will be used for about twenty percent of a tube. An abrasive is used inside of the toothpaste to help to allow the contents to be able to stick on one’s teeth. This is used as a means of making sure that the toothpaste will be able to work to clear off bacteria and clean off the teeth with ease. The abrasive should be able to make sure that one’s teeth are well protected at all times.
About five percent of a typical tube will consist of various other materials. pH buffers are used to help with making sure that the pH level of the toothpaste is at a consistent level throughout its entire material. This is used as a means of making sure that the toothpaste is going to be more effective.
Some flavoring agents will also be added. The agents can work to make a toothpaste taste better on the mouth. This is something that is especially used in toothpastes that are made with kids in mind.
The final things used are coloring agents. These are dyes and other materials used to create colors for the toothpaste. These will not harm the teeth because they will only consist of a percent or so of the entire tube of toothpaste.
These are all valuable parts of a tube of toothpaste. They all work together to create a strong and healthy smile when they are used on a regular basis.
