I love this toothbrush!! Previously I was using a Sonic Care which I liked. However my husband who uses an electric Oral B got a GLOWING report after not having been to the Dentist in quite a while so I switched. I liked that it tells me if I am brushing too hard (I get a little overly enthusiastic which is actually bad for your gums) and that the head is small enough to reach all around the very back teeth. It even tells you when to replace the heads which are not expensive. The Triumph 9900 may cost a bit more but I think it’s worth it.

Switched from Sonicare
This is an amazing brush. If you have receding gums due to overbrushing syndrome, the gentle cycle is amazingly useful and the teeth still get cleam.
I tried several toothbrushes before settling on this one. I was a long term user of Sonicare, having had the original Sonicare.
The original Sonicare, and the first rollout of Sonicare after Philips bought them out, had a shield on the back of the head that kept the ultrasound from being transmitted directly into your cheek.
At some point, Philips cheapened the Sonicare up, removing the shield. (You can see photos of this evolution just by paging through these images of Sonicare right here at Amazon.com).
I do not enjoy the ultrasonic head against my cheek, and have some concerns about the damage it may be causing. For example, there is now ultrasonic liposuction in the US. The company that provides this is Ultrashape. If you read Ultrashapes patents at the USPTO, you can see that Ultrashape kills the fat cells via use of a range of ultrasonic frequencies, the center of which Sonicare is running.
Due to concerns regarding potential damage to the cheek tissue from the ultrasound, I tried many alternatives. I tried several Oral B electric brushes. The only viable alternative was this high end Oral B.
The computer control is awesome, and the large numbered timer somehow makes the task less boring. Also, if you are pushing hard enough to cause receding gums, the monitor flashes an alert that stays active until you back the pressure off enough to decrease the liklihood of receding gums.
I like this brush much, much better than the Sonicare.
If you have receding gums due to overbrushing syndrome, this is the brush for you. If you are younger and want to avoid receding gums as you age, this is the brush for you.

I never thought I’d “splurge” on a toothbrush…
I had briefly used an electric toothbrush once before, but the brushheads were expensive, and I the battery died, and I just never bothered again. Then my dentist essentially ordered me to get a new one.
“It will fix your life,” he said. Well, my dentist IS a bit of a comedian. While the Oral B Triumph didn’t quite fix my life, it did make a world of difference in my gums, which used to bleed for no good reason at all.
I don’t think I ever brushed long enough before. The Smart Guide is a totally worthwhile feature to me… my old electric brush did have a timer built in to the handle, but that didn’t do a whole lot of good because I couldn’t see it until I was done, and if I needed to keep going, it reset the timer. Seeing it in front of me on the mirror, reminding me when to switch to a different area of my teeth, is awesome! I always wait for the smiley face now. 
I didn’t feel it was too rough, even to start. It feels fine, and cleans beautifully, and I’m so glad I spent the extra money.
First time electric brush user
This oral b toothbrush is AMAZING! It almost feels like walking out of the dentist after leaving my restroom. This is something manual brushing definitely cannot do. I bought this on [...] for [...] dollars when they had their anniversary sale. This is worth every penny.
