Swollen gums with Braces overnight?
Q: I had my Dentist check up on 7/24 and my ortho adjustment on 7/26. Today, 8/2, my gums (the upper right region) are swollen and you can barely see my teeth. Before you say I need to floss more, I floss once a day, use my sonicare toothbrush at least 5 times a day and rinse with an antiseptic. Any suggestions??? I have an appt with the ortho tomorrow.

A: This is very normal with braces because the gums are being overstimulated because of the braces. First, I just want to mention that you should not be brushing more than 3 times a day because that will definitely help contribute to the problem of overstimulating.
Unfortunately, there’s nothing much you can do about this. It usually goes away once your braces are removed and if not, you can have it surgically removed.
But please, don’t brush your teeth more than 3 times a day, you might do some serious irreversible damage to your gums, which would be a shame beca
