Teeth Whitening With Electric Toothbrush For a Whiter Smile?

You’ve just brushed your teeth and noticed that your toothbrush is all worn out – no good for teeth whitening. Worse, you feel like your teeth are not completely clean and your gums are a bit sore from the hard bristles.

So you’re about to try to find another toothbrush. With an unending list of toothbrush types and designs to choose from, the right decision can seem very complicated. Even the forms are varied. Toothbrushes can be straight, colored, hard, medium, soft, disposable, foldable, pocket and of course for those who can afford it, the electric toothbrush.

1. Why is a Toothbrush Essential for Cleaning Your Teeth?

No matter how hard it is to find the right toothbrush, you do need one to clean your teeth properly. Why?

Regular brushing helps keep the teeth and gums healthy, and avoid the horrors of

  • tooth decay and extraction
  • yellow Stained Teeth
  • bad breath
  • gum disease

These in turn affect your social life, work and health – a huge impact from the apparently simple selection of the right toothbrush. Brushing aims to remove food particles between teeth that can eventually become hard-to-remove plaque, and help you avoid these health and social problems.

2. Manual or electric?
The American Dental Association (ADA) states no preference for manual or electric toothbrushes. The most important thing to consider is that if you can clean all areas of the teeth.

Independent research finds that most electric toothbrushes are no more effective than the manual variety – except “rotation-oscillation” models. Today, this includes most electrical brushes (such as Braun’s Oral B-series), but even this type of brush performs only marginally better than a regular manual brush – assuming that manual toothbrush users brush their teeth in an effective manner and for a long enough.

The research indicates that how brushing is performed is more important than which brush is used. Buying and using a good electric toothbrush should ensure you can consistently brush your teeth effectively.

However, dentists strongly feel that electric toothbrushes can be especially beneficial if you have limited manual dexterity, or difficulty in reaching rear teeth.

You’ll find a wide selection of electric toothbrushes on this website. Just click the electric toothbrush topic tag over on the right

3. Get A Good Grip
Whether manual or electric, make sure you find a toothbrush that can reach the ends of your large back teeth, your gums, and the difficult-to-access cracks between your teeth. This should always be the first criterion.

4. Is it ADA Approved?
A toothbrush that is approved for use by the American Dental Association is a sound basis for selecting a toothbrush. ADA subjects all products to a stringent set of standards in every part of production to ensure quality.

5. What Size Toothbrush?
The usual straight toothbrush is always a safe choice in terms of reaching the ends of your teeth. Furthermore, the size of the toothbrush should be proportional to the size of the person using it. For example, if a person has a structure of small teeth, a small toothbrush fits best. However, a large man will definitely have a larger set of teeth, and requires a larger toothbrush to clean them all.

6. Toothbrush Head
This matters most for the more inaccessible areas such as between the lower molars and the tongue, or the corners of the mouth. These are always difficult to clean. Smaller Toothbrush Heads can help reach and clean thoroughly the corners of his mouth.

7. Best Bristles – Soft, Medium or Hard?
- Soft bristle is safe for cleaning the mouth, because there is less likelihood of chipping the enamel of the teeth and injuring the gums.

- Medium, on the contrary, may have more pressure and more area cleaned in less time.

Toothbrushes are made for large people naturally bigger, such as athletes. As a general rule, adults usually can use a toothbrush with his head size similar to a $ 1 coin.

8. Comfortable in Use?
Our senses usually can tell us which toothbrush is right for us. If it hurts, change the toothbrush. If you cannot feel the bristles rubbing your gums, change the toothbrush. Do this until you find the brush more comfortable.

9. Straight or Angled Toothbrush?
The best combination to find in a toothbrush head that has an angle of inclination, because they can better reach the grooves and curves of the teeth.

10. Toothbrush – Why 3 Months?
Since the toothbrush is often left with tiny food scraps, it is susceptible to germs that may affect the health of the person using it. Therefore, you should not prolong use of the toothbrush beyond 3 months. No matter how conscientious you are in cleaning your toothbrush after use, germs can still accumulate over time.

11. What About Age?
0 to 2 years:
The size of the toothbrush head should be 15 mm or thereabouts

2 to 6 years:
Toothbrushes should be sized at around 19mm.

6 to 12 years:
The size of the toothbrush head should be approximately 22mm.

12 years and up:
The size of the toothbrush head should be about 25mm.
